Shear strength of recycled-aggregate concrete beams with glass-FRP stirrups

چکیده
The combined use of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) and glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforcement in (RC) structures is deemed plausible to achieve sustainable construction. This paper aims examine the effect such a combination (RCA + GFRP reinforcement) on shear behavior RC beams. Six medium-scale beams (150 × 260 2200 mm) critical were tested under three-point loading until failure. test variables type (natural/recycled) (steel/GFRP/none). failure modes, cracking patterns, load-carrying capacities, deformational strain characteristics analyzed compared among specimens. It was found that using 100% RCA mix reduced strength (by 12% average). Minor effects observed beam specimens (∼2%) with altering transverse (GFRP versus steel). Theoretical capacities obtained as per contemporary design guides experimental results.

متن کاملLinear genetic programming for shear strength prediction of reinforced concrete beams without stirrups
A new design equation is proposed for the prediction of shear strength of reinforced concrete (RC) beams without stirrups using an innovative linear genetic programming methodology. The shear strength was formulated in terms of several effective parameters such as shear span to depth ratio, concrete cylinder strength at date of testing, amount of longitudinal reinforcement, lever arm, and maxim...
متن کاملTwo-Parameter Kinematic Approach for Shear Strength of Deep Concrete Beams with Internal FRP Reinforcement
Tests of deep concrete beams with internal fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcement have shown that such members can exhibit lower shear strength than members with conventional steel reinforcement. To model this effect, the current paper proposes an approach based on a two-parameter kinematic theory (2PKT) for conventional deep beams. The 2PKT is built on a kinematic model with two degrees ...
متن کاملModel uncertainty of recycled aggregate concrete beams subjected to bending
This paper investigates whether the model uncertainty of reinforced recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) beams subjected to bending differs from that of reinforced natural aggregate concrete (NAC) beams. An introductory remark concerning the importance of the codification of RAC structural design is made and notions concerning model uncertainties and their role on structural codification are given...
متن کاملRecycled glass as a partial replacement for fine aggregate in structural concrete – Effects on compressive strength
Waste management is becoming a major issue for communities worldwide. Glass, being nonbiodegradable, is not suitable for addition to landfill, and as such recycling opportunities need to be investigated. Due to the high material consumption of the construction industry, the utilisation of waste glass as a partial replacement for fine aggregate in structural concrete is particularly attractive. ...
